FORM A COMMITTEE

Recruit well-respected and discreet coworkers to the organizing committee

A worker organizing committee is the backbone of all successful union campaigns. Your organizing committee must be representative of the workforce, both across work areas and demographics, and comprised of the most respected and influential workers. They'll also need to understand the need to be discreet and keep the organizing confidential in the early phases of your campaign, because you don't want word to slip to the boss!

You'll want to recruit at least 1 organizing committee member for every 10 workers to have the capacity necessary for winning a union campaign. That means you'll need at minimum 10% of the workforce on this committee to win (and of course no management or supervisors should be on the committee or even knowledgeable about the campaign!)
